This was a really satisfying recutting project I worked on. The original teal sapphire came to me in a bad shape - a surface-reaching fracture at the tip of the pavilion, a big window, chips, scratches, and uneven facets everywhere. Recutting it feels like giving the stone a second life - I love it!
Now at 2.16 carats, the stone is transformed into a clean, sharp cushion cut with deep blue and teal flashes. The new cut closes the window and brings the sparkles back into the stone. What do you think?
