4.05ct Tropical Sunset Tourmaline

This 4.05ct tropical sunset tourmaline hold an entire sky inside it. The color moves in a smooth gradient from vivid magenta through lively pink into a warm, glowing orange – the kind of palette you only get in that brief moment before the sun drops below the horizon.

In some lights, the magenta feels almost electric against the softer orange, and in others the whole stone mellows into a rich, juicy pink‑apricot glow. 

This tourmaline comes from the Malkhan pegmatite field in Siberia, Russia – a remote deposit that became famous among collectors for its intense and dramatic multi-colour gems. Much of the fine material in the market now is old stock from earlier mining periods as most of the mine is now closed. It’s increasingly uncommon to see pieces with this kind of saturation and clarity in the 4ct range.
